The breath that Shane expels feels like the last straw. Ilya is so fucking tired of guessing. Wondering what he did wrong and how he can make it right. A pit forms in his stomach every time Shane looks at him like that. Like he’s done. Like he’s tired. Like he’s one stupid comment away from kicking Ilya out entirely.
It’s not what Ilya should feel when in proximity to his husband. This shaken, tense situation is beyond fucked. Maybe it makes him a child that he hasn’t asked Shane point blank what is going on yet. Maybe it makes him a coward.

Surprise dances behind dark pupils, Ilya can see a fire ignite within Shane’s irises. His freckled face, which is red and splotchy and ruined with pleasure, twists with uncertainty. The intrigue behind them is too captivating to ignore.
Finally, after getting a chance to breathe, Shane asks, “What, like your fist?”

Ilya’s hand wraps around his bare wrist and squeezes. Shane barely stops himself from collapsing to his knees.
The pressure lights up every receptor of his touch-starved nervous system, wrenching a small, pained noise from the back of his throat. Every muted sensation comes flooding back so intensely that it almost hurts. He needs Ilya to hold him down until there’s nothing inside him but quiet. He wants to sink into him and disappear.
It takes Shane an entire beat to remember where they are. Fighting against the fog in his mind, he manages to drag his gaze up to meet Ilya’s.
There’s a slow-dawning horror and understanding on Ilya’s face.

There is no way he can laugh this off anymore, he knows. Not a single chance of escape, but because his body betrays him—his hand drifts down, fingertips brushing over his stomach as if the mere thought alone could make sense if Ilya could see where he would go. “Yeah,” he whispers. “In here.”
