Summary
The winter that Jackie Taylor stopped talking was an especially frigid ordeal. It had arrived in early October with a fury of flurries that quickly transformed, without warning, into a barrage of blinding snowbursts. By early December, blizzards blanketed the town’s tired streets with boundless layers of snow above ice above snow (and repeat). When Jackie stopped talking in early March, the spring thaw had only barely announced itself. As piles of compacted ice and snow just barely shed their layers, it seemed to some as if nothing was changing at all.
Unlike the winter’s subtle entrance, Jackie’s mutism appeared seemingly out of nowhere. Almost nothing comes out of nowhere.
Nobody knows the exact moment when Jackie stopped talking - whether her voice faded silently into the night or if it was suddenly stolen from her; that's between Jackie and God Himself.
Or: Jackie Taylor has suddenly stopped speaking, and even Shauna can't figure out why. It takes a night of shenanigans with Lottie and Nat and an unnecessary number of calls to Shauna for them to finally crack Jackie Taylor wide open.

The woman paused, something akin to flattery crossing her face. “Do you?”
“Yes,” Taissa muttered, eyebrows creased like the act of not remembering was personally offensive. “You’re…” She trailed off, confusing herself further.
“Rebecca Welton,” Jackie’s voice rang out. “You own AFC Richmond.”
Rebecca blinked. “...Right. Well. As I was saying,” She said, eyes running over each of them in a way that made Nat bristle. “I’m…putting together a team—”
“Justice League,” Van nodded immediately, receiving a sharp elbow to the side from Taissa.
“A women’s team,” Rebecca corrected, still looking like she was caught between amusement and bewilderment (and, if Nat was honest, the woman looked a little intimidated). “And I was…hoping…that it would be…well, you all.”
Or: The Yellowjackets win Nationals. Now, they have to brave a different wilderness: whatever the fuck compelled Rebecca Welton to haul their asses to England. At least it's not Canada!
