Neuvillette was about to question him on it when Wriothesley finally spoke. His voice was quiet, almost drowned by the muffled sounds of the people mingling together in the ballroom. “Unfortunately, Monsieur, it will only stop if everyone thinks you’re taken.”
“Which I am not,” replied Neuvillette. Wriothesley was right. And since Neuvillette could not – would not – entertain a romantic relationship, then he was doomed to suffer through those endless attempts at earning his favor.
Wriothesley huffed fondly. He said just as quietly, as if his words were a secret for them only; “I said if everyone thinks you are unavailable. It wouldn’t have to be real, just that the tabloids think it is.”

Blazing lavender eyes eating away at his nerves. Cutting straight through his soul. It makes Wriothesley self-conscious of his aging. Long silver lashes flutter. A picture so perfect, how could Neuvillette be real and not a dream? Wriothesley really is no match for him.
