An aspiring paladin and a prince with powerful magic meet in a clearing in the woods as the years pass. No matter what may come their way, they promise to always find each other in that same clearing.
"Suddenly a twig snapped from the trees surrounding the clearing. The light faded from the prince’s hand and he searched for the source of the noise. The fawn was quick to get up and bound away.
Footsteps grew closer until a boy that looked to be around his age creeped out into the clearing. He was dressed in plain leather clothing and had cropped black curls that framed his sharp face and large, dark eyes. He appeared to have been crying, the tear tracks down his cheeks were apparent, but now he just stared at William in awe."

His eyes catch footprints in the snow. Hoping for the best, he follows them. It leads to a big mountain of snow near the fence of the Wheeler’s lot, and he calls out again. “Will, where are you?”
Out of nowhere, two familiar brown ears pop up from the mound of snow in front of him, and his body releases a heavy breath that he hadn’t realized he’d been keeping in.
“Will!” He shouts out.
Soon after, under the ears follow Will’s head, jumping out of the snow. “Boo!”
