Summary
Zagreus is used to pain.
He has died so many times that it may be what defines him now. God of life, god of blood — whatever he is god of, pain is always part of it.
He knows what it is to burn, to ache, to have the skin shredded from his muscle or melted from his bones. He knows agony so blinding that death is a reprieve. He even knows sickness, as no other god does.
He should be tired of it, but pain comes in so many flavors and colors, he may never know them all. Some are even pleasant.

SATELLITE OFFICER VICQUEMARE — Vicquemare looks at you once they’re both gone, sighs, and looks away. “You know you have to leave,” he says.
EMPATHY [Impossible: Failure] — Perhaps he’s threatened by you? Your work on this case was exemplary, especially with some of Harry’s weight on your shoulders. It’s possible he doesn’t want to be outshone. You doubt it, however. It’s just good to have a theory.
YOU — “Why is that, officer?” you ask, curious.
SATELLITE OFFICER VICQUEMARE — “I know you’re smart enough to get it,” he says. The words should by all rights be cruel, but they just sound sincere and tired.
ESPRIT DE CORPS [Heroic: Success] — You’re a superstar, he thinks, in his mental mockery of his unfortunate best friend’s situationally inappropriate vocabulary. Precinct 41 is a black hole. Revachol needs some fucking light. Leave.
(After they return to Precinct 41, Jean and Kim talk about the elephant that's absent from the room, recovering from his bulletwounds)

Summary
Thanatos turns his head before Megaera even says a word.
Once upon a time, it would have surprised her, how attuned he is to her. She might have even scoffed. Mocked him for his attachment.
But they are older now, and she knows better.

Summary
Before the young god-prince learns of his mother and plots his escape, Zagreus wishes for a bit of earth to plot a garden.
The prince consults Achilles, of all souls, about the act of growing things. Asks for Achilles to describe to him the plants and flowers and trees of the surface world, from the shape of their leaves to their texture and smell. Asks how deep the roots of trees go, what it is like to sit beneath their shade, and listens raptly to all Achilles says of the worms and beetles who live in the dirt.
“I’m afraid I rather took it all for granted.” Achilles admits, ashamed, one day-or-night as Zagreus sits cross-legged on the floor of his chambers patiently while Achilles tries, and fails, to draw a passable image of an olive tree on a sheet of parchment.
