So that he can finally figure out who he is when he's not giving all his energy to forgiving those who've never apologized. Who is he without this pressure to be what Berk wants?
Aka a fic where Hiccup gets fed up and runs away so that he won’t end up resenting himself entirely for being so damn forgiving.

Summary
Hiccup has been a curious child from the moment he could crawl. By this point, the other Berkians were used to it, and paid him no mind. This made it far easier than it should have been for Hiccup to slip by unnoticed at such a young age. He didn’t often go beyond the village, but occasionally he’d be found on the edge of the forest, caught before he could go in. Hiccup was a very stubborn child, though, so he kept trying to go to the forest.
