“You hate whiskey.” Jon murmurs.
“What?”
“Whiskey. You hate it. You said it makes you feel like you’re turning into your father.”
“Hm.” Tim takes another drink. “Why are you here, Jon?” It’s a question, but he says it like a statement - flat and unaffected, as if it can hide how rattled he is by Jons presence.
Jon blinks owlishly. “It’s New Year’s? We always spend New Year’s together. I shouldn’t - I didn’t want to be alone.”

Summary
It’s been getting more difficult, lately. Jon doesn’t sleep, doesn’t eat - makes it quite clear he doesn’t want to. They snap at each other often. Jon’s tone slips harsh and caustic, an echo of a dynamic they both know they’ve moved past. Martin drifts after they fight, sometimes. He’ll sit silently in the kitchen for hours, or go on walks that last for days. When he resurfaces, Jon will apologize. Martin will apologize back. They don’t look at each other when they do it and they don’t talk about it again.
Even now, as entangled as they are, more present than either Jon or Martin has felt in days; neither can shake the feeling that they’re losing each other.

Summary
“How long?” Jason can’t keep the growl out of his voice. Because, alright, he knows what goes on on the streets. And this boy certainly isn’t the last child he’s ever gonna find turning tricks or whatever he’s doing out here alone. But he’s never had one looking at him like that.
Tim shuffled his feet, looking at the ground. It makes him look like a little kid.
“Um, a couple years. I’m sorry.”
Or: Jason runs into Tim around the Alley, during the time he's still Robin. He draws some incorrect conclusions. And decides he needs to get this kid off the streets as soon as possible.
