Summary
The first time he finds the Mando station is an accident. He almost loses it, jerking his thumb on the dial he was slowly spinning to find viable frequencies. It takes some wiggling and some horrendous static but he gets back there, a clear AM signal coming through and some Lena Lim gently crooning while flutes warble in the background. It feels strange, almost, after months of only English, almost like he’s getting away with something. He stands there for a moment, thumb poised to scroll past, but the voice of the DJ comes on to introduce the song and Wei Ying is transfixed.
Radio was invented for this man, he thinks.

Wei Wuxian is slow, these months, a pitiful grower. It is difficult to learn how to be soft; it feels too much like growing sharper. To not grin and work his way through the aches by himself is to be unable to get out of bed and to snap because it fucking hurts when his husband asks him why. Is that who he is, when he doesn’t strive to be easy?
He feels chilled by the realization, shoved face first into ice-melt water. As if the dirt-stained dagger sliding in beneath his ribs was the pulled thread, starting the rapid unraveling of the tapestry of his domestic dreams. The flash of cold, hard reality between yellow fields and fireplace-kisses.
