Summary
The bed is empty.
For a moment, Chris thinks he has the wrong room. He almost goes to check the room number again before his eye catches the blanket crumpled at the foot of the bed, haphazardly strewn over the side and spilling onto the floor. Various leads and sensors from the monitors connect to nothing but the pillow they're resting on, their screens black— no beeps or hums or alarms. An IV line hangs from the bag on the pole and leads his gaze down to the floor where the needle rests in a puddle of fresh blood.
"God damn it, Leon—"

Leon's never been a good sport about going to medical, but this time it nearly breaks him.

Summary
“I think you’ve got the wrong guy, pal,” Leon lied, partially. “I’m just meeting up with some friends around the corner,” Leon lied, entirely. Not in the mood for a quip, he kept his expression flat, hoping it would be enough to unnerve the guy if his voice didn’t.
Unfortunately, the man didn’t seem convinced.
Arms crossed, he shook his head as he tutted, “Ah damn, that’s a shame. I’ve got some friends with me who were hoping you’d show them a good time.” His face may have been obscured by the shadows, but his mocking grin was audible. “You sure I can’t change your mind?"
He’d been stalling.
-------------------------------
Leon gives up on sleeping and goes for a late night walk. It doesn’t lead anywhere good.

Summary
He tried to open his mouth but his jaw refused to listen. A quiet, choked off whine was the only thing he could force from his throat, more a sound of distress than a genuine attempt to call out for help.
Who would be able to help him anyway?

Summary
“There's a man goin' 'round takin' names
And he decides who to free and who to blame”The sun had started to set, the golden rays blanketing across Sherry’s peaceful face in the backseat. A small victory to see her with that untroubled expression, like any kid sleeping on a road trip. Not one who had just lost her parents, her home, and her childhood in one fell swoop. It broke his heart all over again.
Leon couldn’t do it anymore, he was terrified. He was cursing himself for letting Claire leave, and then cursing himself for thinking that in the first place. Get it together, you’re the cop here, you can handle this, he thought as he shook out his head, trying and failing to will away the creeping fatigue. His frustration with himself, with this entire situation, wasn’t enough to keep him awake.

Summary
Leon Kennedy was dangerous for Chris. Everyone knew it. Chris could see the way Jill looked at him disapprovingly after catching him staring for a bit too long at the DSO agent. Claire’s warnings about how ‘you know I love Leon, but…’were burned into his brain. Not that he needed them to point out to him that his infatuation with the younger man was a bad idea. Leon was a shattered mess of trauma, distrust, booze, and sarcasm wrapped up in packaging so pretty it could talk you into enabling him with ease. Leon was an inferno. If Chris got too close, he knew he’d get burned. He’d remind himself that he didn’t want to get his heart broken, force himself to stop thinking about him, and move on with his day.
But then Leon would look at him with those blue eyes wet with unshed tears of frustration. He’d lean against Chris, too drunk to stand on his own. He’d come back from an assignment with his body broken and mind twisted in knots with a desperate need for someone to help him put the pieces back together.
Chris wanted to be that someone.

Summary
Their hands always strayed close together when they made their patrols—Nai always ready to catch his limping brother, always concerned for his balance when they traversed the dunes and craggy wreckage—Vash’s eyes always lingered on his own when they caught each other looking, fingertips brushing on waists, hands too high on thighs, necks, napes bare and tempting in the moonlight. Some wounds could only heal with time, and they had all the time they could ever possibly need.
They were made for each other. They were born in each other’s arms, perfect mirrors, perfect plants. Why shouldn’t they be together, in all ways and in all things?

Summary
If anything, Chris’s cruelty at least affirmed one thing. Asking had absolutely been a mistake. It confirmed the pull he’d been feeling since he’d first let Chris lay hands on him. It wasn’t safe. Being alone was safer and easier. He didn’t have the framework for whatever it was Chris expected of him- there were far too many guardrails for the fleeting moments of intimacy to be worthwhile.
or,
five times Chris Redfield had nothing good to say about Leon Kennedy, and the one time he did.

Summary
Leon's spent the last hour watching his target drink and flirt and dance while his hearing slowly goes from the deafening music of this overly-packed club. He wishes that he could have at least picked his own outfit for this mission. People keep staring at him, and he already hates undercover missions enough as it is. They've made it that much harder for him by sticking him into the tightest clothes he's ever worn, and if he has to evade one more person offering to buy him a drink he's going to resort to pretending not to speak English.
The night is slogging on and there's no hope in sight for him to complete this mission easily. At this point, he's hoping for a miracle to come along so that he can get it done quickly and leave this place behind.
