Summary
Mo's wasn’t expecting a heart-to-heart but He Tian didn’t say anything at all since- since. Mo's hands close into fists, nails digging just a little too hard. He Tian didn’t try to do it again and he also didn’t mention it yesterday, not during the entire time they were breaking into his old house, at the grave, at the fish shop, not when he was leaving Mo at metro entrance and waving goodbye, or when he texted asking Mo to meet again today.

Suddenly Mo’s hands aren’t closed into fists anymore. There’s bandaged fingers slipping between his own, uncurling them. He Tian doesn’t hold his hand, his touch has a purpose, lingering just long enough to make Mo release some tension.
“What are you anxious about, Little Mo?”

It’s a rare sight, to see him so childishly giddy. Eyes wide and rosy cheeks, his damp hair standing in all the wrong ways, he appears so bright against the darkening sky that He Tian can only stare in wonder and laugh with him, warm and unburdened. A sudden lightness runs through his body and threatens to see free words hidden for too long in the back of his mind.

Summary
He wakes to the sound of his heartbeat in his head. It’s not the frantic, face-flushing rhythm that’s kept him on his toes for the last several months, and it isn’t panicked and nauseating like the pulse of fleeing prey, like his body’s former natural state. This beat is steady, calm. Mo Guanshan would almost call it comfortable if it weren't for the mild headache and throbbing in his right ear. He'd heard that cartilage piercings hurt more than lobes, but that didn't scare him. He's seen worse, and he's pretty confident any piercing would heal faster than his first. But that didn't mean it wasn't sore the morning after.
