Summary
The glass was pitch black, the kind of darkness that could drag you down into its depths if you weren’t careful enough. He stared closer. It wasn’t just black, he realised. There was a faint purple mist contained within the ornate frame. It swirled around, whispering faintly to him, beckoning him closer and closer, wanting him to look.

Paranormal investigating is dangerous, for sure, but if you asked the party, they'd say it was the easiest thing in the world.
However, they might've bitten off more than they can chew when Will stumbles across a strange-looking mirror on the wall during one of their cases.

Summary
There was a creature lying there, hidden behind the bones. (An old ribcage, probably.) Cracks littered its flesh, and Joel would’ve thought it was dead if not for its slow, shallow, rattling breaths. Every time it exhaled, it would cough out a little puff of smoke. Its face was scrunched up, whether in misery, pain, or both, Joel couldn’t tell.
Pearl gasped. “It’s a dried ghast…”
“Aww, it’s so cute,” Joel commented softly. “Little bit ugly, though.” He stifled a laugh as Pearl glared at him.

Joel, Grian, Pearl and Gem travel into the nether to gather some resources. When a ghast destroys their portal home, they end up finding a little new friend.

“Oh, well hello there!” Scar greeted cheerily, attempting to smother a small flame licking the sleeve of his cloak. “Impulse, Skizz— you adorable little kitty, you– what do I owe the pleasure?”
Skizz yowled obnoxiously from where he was still curled up on his witch’s shoulders.
“Ah,” Scar said, finally managing to put out the flame. “I see the problem. Or– hear, at least. Well, come on in!”

Usually, you'd be concerned if your cat started speaking English instead of normal cat sounds.
Impulse is having the complete opposite of that problem with his familiar.

Summary
Etho slowly shuffled his way over to Cleo's bed and flopped down onto it with a long-suffering groan.
They raised an eyebrow in amusement. “You look absolutely terrible.”
Etho covered his face with an arm to block out the light. “...Thanks,” he muttered. “I feel terrible.” Cleo had to stifle a laugh at how muffled and pathetic his voice sounded.
Alright, whatever’s going on with me can wait. Etho’s suffering seems worse.
…And funnier.

She folded up the note and slipped it into her pocket, already making plans to call Impulse and Skizz over and see what they had to think about it all. Distracted, she went to pick up the pen as well, only to find that a translucent hand was already holding it up for her.
Gem blinked.
Her eyes slowly moved from the pen and the hand holding it, to the arm, and then finally to the face of the person before her.
The ghost blinked back with a small smile on his face.

Summary
Settling at his desk, he pulled out the letters, letting the paper scrap into his hand. Laying them on the desk, he put them in order of the dates. All it took was a glance at the top of the open one to tell him where it went in the timeline. To anyone else the handwriting would have been impossible to understand, but Impulse read it with ease.
Setting that letter at the far edge of his desk, he sighed. The date on that one was December 30th, exactly two years ago today.
Impulse wasn’t ready to read that one.
If he was being honest with himself, he might never be.
Or an AU where on the anniversary of a painful day, the new King of the land, Impulse, receives an unexpected gift. That gift is from his best friend, Skizz a spy, written during the war to free the kingdom from a tyrant.
