Summary
The Belgariad is my favorite fantasy series. As I've grown up with it, though, I've realized it's getting harder to relate to something so imbued with the problematic attitudes of its time. So, I decided to retell the story in a way that I can more easily share with my loved ones so they can see why I love it so deeply.
This is my retelling of the story I love with a little more of the things I like (relationship dynamics, found family, self-identity) and a little less of the things I don't (sexism, racial and ethnic stereotypes, xenophobia, patriarchy). Splash in a little gender-bending and some LGBTQ themes, and this beloved 40-year-old series is ready for the 21st century!
