Summary
She’s standing by the Hub, chatting with Dana, when Jack steps out of the exam room next to the bathroom. His mind immediately lights up. Samira Mohan is pregnant, and no one here knows.
“There he is,” Dana says as she catches sight of him. “We were just talking about you.”
Samira raises her brows, and he wants to kiss her right here in the middle of the bullpen. He doesn’t, of course, but he wants to, and Samira seems to know what he’s thinking because she shakes her head, half-grinning. “About me?” He asks.
“About house hunting,” Samira clarifies. “And your total aversion to fixer-uppers.”
“You can buy houses that are already fixed up,” Jack says. He is a grown man. He makes a good salary as an attending physician. Jack is not interested in being his own contractor. He’s not in Ortho.

Summary
And sitting next to him now, Samira comes to terms with the devastating awareness that after years of shoving her sexuality aside to focus on the work, after so many overlapping shifts, after numerous overseen procedures, that the work has shoved back with a reassuring nod and a gruff compliment, her defenses evaporating in an instant.

Summary
A full smile blooms on Abbot’s face. “Dr Mohan, you have your own go-bag?!” He looks absolutely delighted as she rolls her eyes and reaches down to her backpack, fighting her own smile.
“You don’t get the goods if you make fun of me, Dr Abbot.”
His right hand moves from his leg to rest over his heart. His eyes dance at her as his features slip into a farcical mask of shock.
“Hey hey, woah woah, this is awe I’m giving you, baby!”

Jack and Samira become friends. It's totally fine.

Summary
It’s not a question, not really. When Jack first floats the idea of moving in together, Samira’s immediate answer is yes. She already spends more time at his place than at hers anyway, her impact on his life made visible through a modest but comprehensive assortment of products integrated into his bathroom counter, his dresser, his shelves. Tinted sunscreen, dark lip stain that rarely sees use but alights him like nothing else when it does, rollerball perfume from a vintage shop she frequents with Trinity; a cardigan here, a pair of sweatpants there, though she prefers wearing his clothes or nothing at all in this space; her go-to brand of oat milk and favorite snacks, steadily becoming his, too.
And yet, when he clarifies that he means the two of them getting a new place together, what she feels in her gut is something like fear.

Summary
Jack blinks at Orville (Otis? Owen?). Did he just have a stroke? Did this med student just have a stroke? Someone must be having a stroke, because- “Sorry, did you say married?”
The kid still doesn’t look up from his monitor, eyes intent on the screen as he shrugs, like they’re discussing the weather. “Yeah. Married.”
Jack Abbot finds out Samira Mohan is getting married.
