He’d smiled, but there was a sleight of hand that occurred in that space of a second, a magician’s old trick, but before she could fully read him Dick had turned and disappeared into a sea of blonde and blue-eyed, reshifting the center of the room’s gravity.

"Across the room, he caught Bruce’s eyes. It had felt like lifetimes since their last conversation in the Cave. Bruce held his eyes. He seemed to sag. He did that a lot lately when looking at Dick, the way someone received bad news."
