Summary
His mind often wanders as he’s brutalized—heart and mind living in an alternate reality to the hell his body resides in.
He daydreams about blooming Haitang blossoms at the height of spring. The taste of chili oil dumplings, the sound of rain water on the roof, and of a disciple who once cared about earthworms getting stranded in puddles.

Summary
A narrated playthrough of the Liao Dynasty in Crusader Kings 2, using the Historical Immersion Project mod and my own submod, AARmod. In the year 1125, the Liao Dynasty of China, founded by Khitan nomads, fell following the capture of its last Emperor, Tianzuo, by the invading Jurchen of the Jin Dynasty. But this story begins in 1132, when Yaerud Dashi, the last surviving general of the Liao and descendent of the Liao's founder Yaerud Abaoji, finally arrived on the eastern steppe. Fleeing China with less than five thousand souls, Dashi is the last Huangdi of the Liao; the last hope of its survival, and the last hope of its return.
This is the tale of the Liao and their great struggle to reclaim their birthright, but it is also the tale of a people who in our world died out; of Khitan history, culture and faith, as told through the eyes of the Emperors of the Liao Dynasty who led them. This is a tale of a people forming their identity, and deciding what it means to be Khitan.
Written between October 2019 and October 2022, this is my definitive project, what I always wanted to write: a narrative tracing the ethnogenesis of a culture.
