Her eyes lit up as she turned to her mother excitedly, "Mom! I got in!"
"That's great, sweetheart! I was sure you would get accepted. Go show it to your counselor, I'm sure he'll be thrilled for you! I'll make sure to tell your father the news when he returns from work."
As the bus parked by the house, Rhonda quickly put her acceptance letter into her bag and got on the bus, hoping there was an empty seat in the back row. She tried her best to contain her excitement.
It took a minute for it to sink in. She was finally going to college. And not just any college. Her dream university.
And, oh, she couldn't wait to show Mr. Manfredo this letter, he would be so proud of her for how far she's come. It's all thanks to him. She couldn't have done this without him.
