Kyouji left you eventually—not that day, not that week, but later, and when you realized it had happened again, just like he said, you didn't jump off the balcony. You didn't walk into the street. No one ran you over. It was anticlimactic. You didn’t even cry yourself to sleep. You went to class the next day and your eyes weren't swollen and no one knew there was anything wrong with you, that you had been slashed through in the middle and your insides were falling out. You marveled at how easy it was for you, a dead man, to walk among the living.

Kyouji laughs, but it's a bitter, self-deprecating thing. He lifts his right arm, the one emblazoned with Satomi's name. The soulmark is covered by his shirt and jacket, but he can feel it glowing warmly in Satomi's presence. "The boss didn't give me this."

Summary
Satomi doesn’t have work tonight, but that doesn’t stop either of them from moving like they have minutes and not hours. There’s relief in knowing that Kyouji is eager to touch him, but the thin red lines decorating the back of his hand remind Satomi of the cat they saw on their way over from the station. Or rather, the cat’s reaction to Kyouji trying to pet it.
“Cats probably hate you because you’re too heavy-handed,” Satomi tells him, pushing his glasses further up the bridge of his nose.

I like him, Satomi thinks, never really stops thinking. So he wraps his arms around his neck and kisses him again.
