Summary
“So, you want me quiet?”
Suguru dosen’t answer, he couldn't.
Satoru leans forward just a little, elbows moving to resting on his knees now. Satoru’s grin fades into something a bit more curious.
“Does it bother you,” Satoru asks lightly, “or does it bother you?”

Summary
The air inside the jeep was thick with humidity, with the metallic tang of blood and the sharp bite of sweat and gunpowder. Nathan spiritlessly gets into the vehicle and slumps into the driver seat, his clothes damp with sweat and dirt from the jungle terrain. He leans back, jaw tight, eyelids shut, and the weight of the last 48 hours over him. His hand trembled slightly as he pulled the keys from his pocket. Just as he raises them to the ignition– your hand catches his wrist.

Summary
‘Kikufuku from Sendai, gelato from Florence, dulce de leche from Buenos Aires, cakes and pastries from the finest patisseries in Paris. I’ve tasted the best of the best,’ he assured Suguru, his voice light and airy — until it wasn’t. ‘But I’ve also tasted you.’
A blush spread like strawberries and cream across Suguru’s cheeks, even as he frowned. Satoru couldn’t help his teasing smile as he brought Suguru’s hand to his lips again, humming thoughtfully against his fingers before he said, ‘I’ll admit the kikufuku comes close—’ Satoru looked Suguru dead in the eye as he parted his lips to lick a slow wet stripe up the side of Suguru’s index finger. ‘—but Suguru is still the sweetest damn thing I’ve ever eaten.’
Satoru enjoys his favourite sweet treat.

Summary
There is no clear moment, not really, but there is one that sticks out in his mind, when he knew with a sickening sort of thud inside him, a punch to the jaw in an anything goes bare-fist fight, no chance to hide his weak spots in the aftermath.
“No.” Suguru says, enunciating carefully, as though his lack of diction is the issue.
“But Suguru,” Satoru whines, heavy on the last syllable, and Suguru can feel Shoko shift beside him.
“Why do you say his name like that?” She snips before Satoru can continue with his impassioned plea or Suguru can try to intercede, cut him off. “Just say it normal, be normal.” She kicks out and misses Satoru, standing at the edge of the bed, and hits Suguru, who grunts in response. “Oops.”
Suguru waves it off.
“When is he ever normal?” He asks, rolling his eyes at her. Shoko snorts out a laugh, her leg resting over Suguru’s shin, a comforting warmth.
“So true.” Shoko responds, flicking open her phone.
“I’m literally right here.” Satoru practically shouts, tossing his sunglasses haphazardly onto Suguru’s bedside table, “terrible friendship, terrible friends,” and Suguru closes his eyes because he knows what is coming next, “Suguru,” Satoru whines again.

Summary
“I did good,” Satoru repeats, incredulous, voice audibly trembling, although it can’t be ascertained whether it's from agony or rage. “I killed you and you’re telling me I did good?”

Summary
“Did Shoko help?”
He points at his head as if to answer. "I don't know what to do, Suguru," Turning his head to the side, he sighs.
Suguru places one hand on his calf, rubbing it comfortingly. “Then, I guess I'll let you be.”
Satoru jumps up, even if it makes him feel dizzy and nauseous, he stops Suguru in his tracks before he has the time to get up.
”No, I—” he gulps. “Please, stay.”
Our brains tend to seek familiar hells and avoid unknown heavens. Getting used to a kind of pain which turns into a routine, traps us into a sense of comfort, a sense of familiarity that makes it hard for us to step away from what we know can hurt us. Once we get rid of the pain, we feel empty, unfulfilled and raw. Nostalgic towards the times we were certain about the outcome. Vulnerable to unknown pains.
Gojo Satoru learned this the hard way.
