Summary
Three things hit Alistair simultaneously, each one worse than the last:
One: He was trending. Actually trending. His name in bold at the top of the list, right there for millions to see.
Two: The trending topics alongside his name were "guitar," "what did he say??," and—his stomach twisted so violently he thought he might actually be sick—"Gavin Grieve."
Three: The most recent tweets on his account were absolutely, definitely, horrifyingly not promotional content.
or: Alistair Lowe's life takes an unexpected turn when a pretty major mistake forces him into a tough situation. Now, he has to navigate a complicated "relationship" with the very guy he's had a public feud with, all while trying to maintain his career and navigate his way back into his family's good graces. He's kind of screwed, just a tad bit. He's not the only one that's stuck between a rock and a hard place (see: literally everyone else too), but alas. The internet is the internet, and the fallout is the fallout :)

Summary
The pause before Gavin speaks. The glance down. The calmness, too calm, like he’s reading from a script.
Like none of it meant anything.
There’s no point in holding onto things you can’t change.
Bullshit.
Alistair feels something cold coil low in his stomach. He’s not angry, not exactly. It’s worse than that. It’s the sense of being erased.
Gavin doesn’t even say his name. Doesn’t even acknowledge him.As if they weren’t everything to each other, once. As if Monaco never happened. As if Singapore didn’t end the way it had. As if Alistair hadn’t—

Summary
“Mind if I sit?” came the voice.
Scuff-tinged. Confident. Alistair still didn’t look up.
“It’s a chair,” he said. “Not a throne.”
That should’ve ended it. A clear rebuke for anyone with more than three functioning brain cells.
It didn’t.

"You want me to what?"
"Just go check on him. Please?”
"I don't— what— absolutely not. Find someone else."
"It's you or no one, alright? And I'm genuinely worried about him. He's never usually this sick. So will you go? Please?"
Silence stretches between them.
"Alistair?"
"Fine."

Summary
They didn’t speak for a beat. The hallway buzzed with the low hum of the city. Singapore never slept, and neither did they, apparently.
Then Gavin stepped aside.
Alistair walked in.
The hotel room smelled like something sweet and something burnt, probably the room service Gavin had likely ignored hours ago. The curtains were open just enough to let the lights from Marina Bay seep in, casting everything in a strange, too-clean glow.
It was the same every time. Like clockwork, like addiction. Something that just made this routine hard to quit. The rise, the draw, the abstinence, and the relapse.
