Summary
Loki's made a lot of mistakes in his time. He's lied, he's killed, he's betrayed his friends and enemies so many times that he's not even sure what side he's on anymore. When they speak his name, they speak in equal parts distrust and admiration. Loki: god of chaos, advisor to the All-Father, traitor to the Jötnar.
But when he finds himself in the impossible position of having the chance to fix things, he's not sure if he's worthy of the chance. If he even has what it takes.
He knows one thing for sure, though: he's not letting his father die this time around.
___In which Loki gets the bad end and gets knocked into yesteryear with the chance to fix things.

Summary
Who of us had not loved something or somebody? How much did these feelings, these loves, these worships, have to do with pure reason? Little or nothing, we saw at last. Were not these things the tissue out of which our lives were constructed? Did not these feelings, after all, determine the course of our existence? It was impossible to say we had no capacity for faith, or love, or worship. In one form or another we had been living by faith and little else.
from The Big Book by William G. Wilson and Robert H. Smith, Chapter 4: We Agnostics
—
Armand and Daniel on living by more than faith.

Summary
The character of Rashid may have been a minor miscalculation, on his part. Armand did not know much about the real Rashid, did not care to find out before taking on the role. Surely he of all people could play the servant in the background, watching for and smoothing over discord. He hadn't been thinking of which buried parts of him had first learned those lessons. Had certainly not been thinking of the shock it was to see Amadeo's brown human eyes sitting again in his inhuman face.
On character work and self control.

Summary
“It’s cool,” Daniel says. “I can watch Benji and Sybelle.”
He means it to be reassuring, an olive branch. An offer of see, we’re doing better, let me prove it. You can trust me this time.
Daniel doesn't know what he expects. A relieved smile? An anxious shrug? A deluge of excuses about why that wouldn't be possible?
What he isn't expecting is for Armand to go very, very still, and say, “oh, would you now?”
or:
This is not the first time someone has offered to watch Benji and Sybelle. Armand will not fall for the same trick twice.

Summary
Here, in this Parisian hospital room, Alice and Armand begin their last collaboration: Daniel’s life story. They’re putting it together; no, they’re taking it apart. Events take place, relative to other events. One damn thing after another. But that’s how all stories work.
In 1973, Daniel Molloy meets a stranger in Polynesian Mary’s.
In 1974, he meets Alice and they move to New York City together.
In 1985, he proposes to Alice, who says no. Who says yes. Who says—24 items (more or less) from the A.M. collection, spanning 1974 to 1985 (more or less). Presented with their accompanying manuscript.
