Summary
People, it turns out, are horny for depression. Or maybe it’s that people are horny for depressed gods. Or maybe enduring betrayal on a literally cosmic scale makes people hotter. Or maybe the death drive is real, and the many-tongued abyss’s breath is still thick in your hair, and it makes everyone want to move closer and take a big, deep whiff. Or maybe you’re God, and they’re scared.
Or: John Gaius meets his daughter, remembers the women he left behind, and deals poorly with being the male god of a universe in which the divine is essentially feminine.

Summary
Piper was gazing into the bubbling depths of her champagne as though its very existence underwhelmed her. At such an early stage, Greenmantle was not yet to know that everything underwhelmed Piper; that Piper suffered, in fact, from a chronic lack of whelm. “I’m sick of this place," she said, with sudden vehemence. "I’m sick of all these men. I’m sick of all of it. Everything. Don’t bore me.”
Greenmantle told her, “I’m congenitally incapable of boring anyone.”
“Prove it,” said Piper.
(Nothing in the world has ever proved quite as difficult to obtain as Piper.)

Who didn't come out of the book desperately wanting a sequel where F & A hooked up as adults? Try: adult SPIES. This is a proper novel experience and teen me is so grateful, and 2012 Yule me was so grateful, and 2016 me remembering to bookmark it is still so truly grateful.

Summary
Since the events of "Absolution", Cullen and Solona have settled into a sweet little routine at the Gallows, keeping their doe-eyed marriage a secret (though not terribly well). Things in the city proper have finally started to get back to normal after Meredith's defeat and Hawke's departure; the Gallows is starting to be a home for the mages, and no longer a terrifying prison.
But hey, this is Kirkwall. If people are happy for too long, something will happen to put an end to it. If things have been going too smoothly, someone is going to come along and blow shit up. Maybe several someones. Maybe someone on the inside.

She had shivered when he touched her. Eugenides, who had seen the goddess, had wept for the humanness of his queen, and loved her for it.
Seamless, tonally perfect, gorgeous.

I LOVE THIS FIC, I STAN THIS FIC (and this ship, forever this ship, forever Margaret especially, but forever Margaret/Suffolk), I use this fic to justify my predilection for history-based theatrical!AU, and thing is, once I've directed people to this fic, they understand why. So many of my favorite things in one place, here.

Summary
There are two things Thomasina notices when she wakes, coughing, the night before her seventeenth birthday. The first: her bedchamber is on fire (heat exchange only works one way; this is very bad). The second: a large blue box has appeared (it's blue). It has a door, which opens, and through the stinging smoke, Thomasina sees a man step out, and wave his arm.

Achingly perfect Lucrezia (and Lucrezia/Cesare) that hits every single emotional checkpoint of this family ridiculously hard without ever stopping for apology; richly evoked in both history and character. Written for me, and stunningly attuned to every piece of this history that I hold dear.
