"The Doctor had been getting better at accepting that he needed to stay and heal, though it was still a struggle for him to exist in a household that had no expectations of him. On one of the first few sleepless nights, before he had relearned how to sleep in a real bed for a full eight hours, the Doctor had told her about Amy and Rory and the year that he had lived with them in stressfully domestic calm. Later she had learned about when he had worked for UNIT, stuck on earth after being exiled, how the work had felt like the only thing keeping him sane."
