Summary
Sirius and Remus are together in almost every way that counts, even if not in all the ways they want. Above all else, they trust each other, and trust, they both have come to learn, is an important thing in their line of work.
Regulus has been gone for eight years. No one but Sirius believes him to be alive. No one but Sirius wants to believe.
Sirius and Remus are assigned a new case. It dredges up old wounds, new leads and, most of all, a promise of uncovering the truth.

Turns out he did. That was, and remains, part of the problem. But Sirius doesn’t like to go there.
“The beast,” the Auror tries again, clearly unaware of the enraged expression in Sirius’ face, “is mostly non-verbal. He is calling for you.”
Or: the war is over. Sirius Black is a Healer, Remus Lupin has been missing, everybody hates mondays, and where the hell is Harry Potter?
