Agatha’s in Austin for SXSW EDU, and it’s ruining her life.
She gets it. The principal has been pushing conference attendance since the beginning of last school year—he wants the whole Westview High faculty to get refreshed or inspired or whatever the hell the buzzword is this time.
And sure, Agatha’s a natural for it—11th grade English teacher, master of Hamlet discussions, full-on poet-in-residence vibes. But still. Five days in a bougie hotel surrounded by academic try-hards and douchebags who wouldn’t know Virginia Woolf from the hole in their ass? That’s not what Agatha needs.
She needs her wife.

Rio gave her one last dazzling smile before turning to leave, saying goodbye to a few familiar faces as she passed. Agatha watched the way her dark curls bounced with each step, the sway of her hips in those damn denim shorts, and the heavy clack of her Doc Martens echoing off the concrete floor.
“You are so down bad,” Jen muttered beside her.
Agatha jumped. “Jesus! Do I need to put a bell on you?!”
Jen burst out laughing. “Not really. My chair scrape echoed through the whole damn station. But you were too far gone to notice.”
“I am not ‘down bad.’ I just appreciate it when she shows up, and I wanted to make sure she got out okay!” Agatha huffed.
Jen smirked. “You hate to see her go, but you love to watch her leave.”
“Kale,” Agatha warned, mouth full after biting into the glorious sandwich from Rio, “I will throw you into the next fire we get called to.”
