“...Anyway, I got sick of throwing stuff out, so I thought of a way to get him back.”
“You did?” Wearing the brightest smile Scooter had ever seen on him, Walter gently shook the contents of the box.
“I did!”
Upon further inspection, Scooter could clearly make out pastel-colored pieces of sidewalk chalk, the kind that the grade school kids from Scooter’s memories used to play with. The sight of the familiar tool put a fond smile on Scooter’s face, phantoms of him and his sister Skeeter dancing across his eyes. He saw the two of them drawing on the sidewalk as if it was just yesterday, playing for hours on end and squabbling loudly over the purple chalk - it was always Skeeter’s favorite, he knew, but he would never let it go without a fight- as the sun set on their block.
…I haven’t seen anything like this in years, he thought to himself, eyes drifting from the box of chalk and back to Walter’s grin.
...
Walter tries to execute a prank. Through his own complicated feelings, Scooter helps him out, like all good co-workers do.

“Okay, sure, yeah. What about him?”
“I’m a bad friend.” Mike admitted, breathing it out like a vomited confession, like something he was desperate to be rid of.
“Did something happen?” Steve asked.
“Yes.” He paused. “Well, no. It’s— it’s more like… more like… he got a boyfriend.” Mike huffed out a breath.
“I know.” Steve agreed slowly, brows raised. “Carlton. Will, Robin and I met up a while back and he introduced us. Seems like a good kid. What about him?”
Mike felt like a fucking idiot.
Of course Steve didn’t get it. Why would Steve get it?
“I… I just…” How was Mike even meant to begin to talk about this? “It’s driving me crazy, man. I hate the guy.”
OR -
Mike spirals about his feelings, gets in his car, and somehow ends up going to Steve Harrington for help. He gets a much-needed pep talk and finally goes after what he wants.

“It doesn’t matter if it takes a hundred more crawls,” Mike says, planting his hands against the table. “A thousand! We don’t stop until we’re goddamn sure that wrinkled, rotting, noseless bastard is dead and gone and never coming back.”
Will’s smiling, now, looking reassured. And Mike’s saying it for El’s sake, but also Will’s. Max’s. Eddie’s, too. Everyone who’s been hurt by this monster, who won’t be able to sleep at night with even the slimmest chance that he might still be out there.
He has to do something. And until there’s a better plan, or more information to go off of, this is the only option.
He puts his hand out above the table. “Everyone in?”
Lucas, looking determined, slaps his palm on top of Mike’s. Then Will. Then, when there’s only one of them left, they turn to look at Dustin.
Dustin’s mouth twitches to the side. His torn Hellfire shirt ripples in the late-autumn breeze. “I want to see Vecna’s heart on a platter,” he says. His voice is low, almost scarily detached. Like he has nothing left to lose. “Just wish I could do it myself.”
