Summary
Sometimes, Saps talks in his sleep, especially when encountering nightmares. As a runaway convict for the past three days, and witnessing what he had in his home, it wasn't a surprise that he'd be terrored nightly with dripstones and beheaded faces of several Pandoran leaders.
As such, he didn't put it past his luck that whilst sleeping, he would keep accidentally swallowing tiny leaves, only to cough them up the next morning.
Putting a hand over his mouth, he coughed forcefully just like he had for the previous days. He expected to find leaves as the suspect for his choking fit again, only to come to the realization that the feeling of asphyxiation stayed and exacerbated.
He pulled his hand away, confused, only to see scarlet droplets on his fingers, accompanied by azure petals.

Saps presses forward and slashes again. He hears the whole crowd scream, the sound muffled as if from underwater. The floor is wet and iron-rich and his whole head is pounding. He’s waited for this moment for longer than anyone here knows.
He raises his axe into the air and Flux reaches a bare hand up and shouts, “Wait!”
or, Flux surrenders in the colosseum. The rest of the world tries to figure out what to do with him.

Saps could see the glow of the chat window spill across Flux’s face, pale against his cheek as the messages continued to pour in while the gaze of his once best friend stayed notably fixed on the crook of Saps’ neck.
“You'll be okay,” Saps whispered.
Flux lets out a scoff, a wry smile playing on his lips as he turns away from Saparata, burying his head on the man’s shoulder.
"...have you forgotten about the sword that just sliced through my insides—courtesy of you, by the way?”

The snowflakes fell onto his skin, gently. Soft but cold. Reminiscent of his lover’s touch.
Pulled back to reality, he looked down from the tower, taking in his height from the ground.
If he fell, would he die, or would he still be with his unwelcoming life?
He shut his eyes again and leaned back against a pillar.
The question is not if he dies or not. If he died, would the reason for his suffering feel his pain too?
Yes.
Saparata made up his mind.
His life was not his to take.
Slowly, he climbed down the structure and retreated.
Or: Having lost everything, Saparata decides there is only one way to balance the scales. He will confront the one who shattered his world and make them commit the one act that will tear theirs apart: taking the life of the only person they ever truly cared about. And just maybe, that only person was Saparata himself.
