Emu brought her hand out to the crowd for her last solo line--look, everyone is watching. The universe is watching while we make history--and she turned towards Nene again.
Even when the world was in front of her, Emu still turned away from everything to look at Nene like she were her beloved.
Ah, how badly Nene wished she wouldn't. But, a selfish part of her wanted to be trapped in her gaze, and this moment, forever.
That was what the song was about, wasn't it?
They sang their last line together, fingers intertwined. The aliens cut the song after the second chorus, that was when someone was supposed to die.
But Emu wanted to learn the entire thing. She was so adamant that they would both win.
Emu sang the last note with her, and Nene couldn't be happier. She gave smile that still makes Nene melt, even after seeing it for the past decade. She hoped Emu knew how much she meant to her.
And then it happened.
