When he spots a familiar silhouette walking through the tall grass he almost thinks it's a hallucination. It could be, with how Jungwon's familiar shape blends into the grass in the sharp sunlight, his form somehow bleeding into the thick smell of weed, the heat, the dust. Swirling muddily like the paint from a dirty paintbrush the moment it's submerged in clean water. Riki gets to his feet before his brain has registered what he's doing. He has no plan, just knows that the others can't see Jungwon here. It won't lead to anything good. He can feel it.
It's summer. Riki is seventeen, and his only friend is about to leave town for university. And he's okay. He's handling it.

As he starts to pick apart his appearance in the mirror, the intercom inside the bathroom buzzes and the pilot announces that the plane will start its descend towards Incheon Airport. He feels his stomach churn when he feels the plane slowly declining in height, a few hundred meters at a time.
It’s when he pulls his pants up and tries to make himself look presentable—pasting on the version of himself that’s safe to show—that he realizes something about his fear of heights.
Maybe it’s not the height he’s afraid of, it’s the falling.

He retracts his hand that’s reaching to grab the white napkin by the plate to look at Euijoo. “You look—” Euijoo trails off, “very familiar.”
“If this is a pickup line about how I’m the man of your dreams, I’m going to walk out of this restaurant right now, Euijoo.”
