Effie opened the door to find Haymitch standing there in his best suit with a bag of luggage. He looked even more handsome than the last time she had seen him. A sense of peace and a little less booze had worked wonders on his appearance over the years.
“Howdy, princess.”
She smiled, then whispered. “I'm just finishing up with this very important client, so please be respectful. Put your bag in my room and wait for a few minutes until she leaves.”
“Getting me into the bedroom already?” Haymitch said lowly into her ear as he passed over the threshold into her apartment.
Effie cleared her throat and tried not to focus on the tingle that ran down her spine.

It was only a little after nine in the morning, which meant that it was about seven a.m. in the Capitol, and Haymitch knew Effie liked to sleep in on Mondays. But he liked to keep her on her toes.
“Yeah! I wanna talk to her!” Willow wriggled in his lap, trying to jump up and down but only succeeding in jamming her bony knees into his thighs.
“Alright, stop wigglin’ then.” Haymitch grunted in pain and picked up the phone. “You gotta say hi first, okay?”
“Yay!”
Haymitch knew that if Effie heard Willow's voice she wouldn't be able to yell at him for calling her so early in the morning.Series
