So good, so so freaking good. AV excellent look at trauma, the journey of recovery, found family, self discovery. The story of heavy and intense without being fraught. And stupidly funny at other points. Every minute spent reading this story was just such a lovely place to be.
Re: Eddie and Buck, they come together slowly and sweet. It takes them a while but at no point do you get frustrated with them. There isn't contrived bullshit keeping them apart. (Not knocking those stories! they have a place and time.)
So lovely. The sexiest thing is how good and solid their foundation as friends and as family is before they become a romantic unit.
Buck's story, his Odyssey, is skillfully done. I can't believe I'm empathizing this much with a white dude character. And yet here we are.
Oh! Buck and Maddie's relationship is amazing. A.MA.ZING.
Gonna come back soon to roll around in these feels.

Tim Drake stops stalking Gotham’s nocturnal wildlife when she goes to college. Unfortunately, they don’t return the favor.
To be honest with you, my thesis barely touches on biochemistry, but Dr. Isley still likes to keep tabs on all of Susanne’s students. She’s the academic equivalent of an extremely annoying older sibling. I assume. I’m an only child.”
When she looks to see how the Red Hood is handling this, the Red Hood still has her arms crossed over her chest. Maybe she’s staring at Tim; it’s hard to tell in the helmet. Eventually, she says, “ Dr. Isley ?”
“You catch more flies with honey than vinegar,” Tim explains. “Ideally, you’re fractionally less likely to be fed to a plant if you stay polite.”
“That’s what you’re going with?” the Red Hood says. “You’re academic colleagues ?”
“We’re not colleagues,” Tim insists, beleaguered. “She’s barely even publishing anymore–and she’s moved completely outside of sarracenia–”
The Red Hood mutters, “Unfuckingbelievable.”
“--which you’d know if you kept even the barest tabs on her civilian identity! Who does your research? It’s embarrassing!”
“Hey,” the Red Hood says, “I do my own recon, okay? And for what I’m working with, it’s pretty fucking good.”
“Her publication record is on Google Scholar,” Tim says scathingly. “How’s that for verifiable?”
