“Okay,” Simon interrupts, waving his hands around wildly, “can we get back to the fact that Jace has never actually been courted before?”
Jace heaves a sigh, arms crossed as he leans back in his seat. “Why are you so fixated on this?”
“Because you're- well, you're you. How has no one ever tried to woo you before?” Simon blurts, eyebrows creasing in genuine confusion.
“Because they know better,” Jace replies simply.
Simon snaps his fingers. “That's it. From here on out, I'm wooing you. I'm going to get you to agree to one date with me after all the wooing, then this horrible travesty will have been worked out.”

Summary
A person's life is made up of a series of moments, of choices. What we do in those moments, what choices we make, can change the road ahead of us. In one world, Alec never met Lydia Branwell, not until she came to take over his Institute, setting them on a path toward a wedding that would never be, and a love for Alec that was worth everything.
In another world, those two met much, much earlier, and that single meeting, that one single moment, was enough to change everything. Well, almost everything.
When a moment of weakness revealed the one secret that Alec had been trying so desperately to keep, and revealed it to the very last person he'd wanted to see it, a fifteen-year-old Alec found himself being shipped off to the Lisbon Institute under the guise of studying and learning to improve his tactical planning. None of them could've anticipated what he might find there, or what things it might change.

Alec immediately regrets the instinctive shift of his feathers, knowing how many Downworld throats have been slit open on nephilim wings, knowing how many times Magnus and his council must have seen that happen. But what’s done is done and moving them back would do nothing. Alec comes to a halt at a respectful distance from the High Warlock and waits. His arrival was without notice and is certainly unwelcome. By both nephilim and Downworld custom the next move belongs to Magnus alone.
“Tell me, Alexander Lightwood,” Magnus begins icily, and it’s no surprise that he knows Alec’s name. “What brings the Head of the New York Institute to my door, unarmed, runes inactive, and completely alone?”

Summary
Magnus is turned into a dragon and appears to be stuck that way. (This is not how he pictured his Tuesday going.)
Alec is called to handle a disturbance that involves a dragon and meets a creature that is scared and in need of protection.
Within minutes of meeting each other, they are inseparable, with Alec taking responsibility for the small dragon, and Magnus taking advantage of the protection offered by the shadowhunter.
Neither of them is expecting a convenient arrangement for them both to evolve into something much, much more.
