It’s the way Kageyama’s eyes linger on Hinata as he bounds away just a few moments longer than necessary, the way Hinata’s jealous huffs are tinged with fondness, the way their fingertips gently brush as they walk home together after practice.
It’s not a significant change — he’s somewhat confident that they had been doing that in their first year already — but everything happens a little more often, a little more weight behind it each time.
There’s no way they’re aware of their feelings, Tsukishima decides. At this stage, their — ugh — affection for each other probably isn’t that strong, especially not in comparison to the symbiotic volleyball nonsense they’ve got on.
He’ll check back in six years or so. They might be closer to figuring it out then.
Five times someone was sure Kageyama and Hinata weren’t dating, and one time they really weren’t.
