Summary
Loki Odinson has officially reached the end of his tether.
After three years of bending himself backwards to prove himself worthy, he knows better than to feel bad about handing in his notice. His boss might be an accomplished, highly respected editor-in-chief, but Loki's ambition involves more than taking meeting minutes, fetching banana cream doughnuts, and pretending he doesn't hate the mere sight of her.
He convinced himself that Sylvie Lushton's lukewarm acceptance of his resignation letter didn't matter, but when all prospective employers pass him over for no apparent reason other than his name, he must reconsider his options going forward. Disheartened, penniless, and with his future hanging in the balance, Loki has no choice but to crawl back to his father with his tail tucked between his legs.
What he doesn't expect is Sylvie Lushton, cloaked in an ever-present air of self-importance, knocking on his door with an offer he's unable to refuse.

Oh, her son is so smart, he’s the smartest little person ever, and he clearly got all those brains from Agatha. She lowers her hands – she was so ready to go ham on this Karen – and smiles softly at her little guy, beaming like he can sense how proud of him she is. (Rio, meanwhile, is stifling a laugh behind her Snoopy mitten.)

Summary
She’s always been a greedy thing, after all. Hungry, wanting. Grasping for more than she deserves, especially for things that so rarely come freely. Like the quicksilver joy that flashes through Agatha’s veins when Rio tugs her clothes back into place and lets her hands linger. Or the golden warmth that settles all the way down in her bones like river silt when Rio smiles at her so sweetly that crinkles appear in the corners of her eyes, right before she moves in for a kiss. It settles some of the awful, corrosive anger that lives in Agatha’s chest, the coal seam fire of you will never be good enough to matter that drives her so hard and pushes her so far.
And at the core of it all is the simple fact that Agatha has never been able to let anything go easy, good or bad or downright ugly though it may be. She leans into every decision she makes like it’s her last, and this is no different. Triumph or failure, Agatha Harkness never does anything by halves.
If this unnameable, intangible thing with Rio is a cliff, Agatha’s already flung herself well over the edge.
