Summary
a chronicle of coping
On the night before the short at his second assignment, Yuuri hides in his hotel room, stuck somewhere between numbness and awful vibrating anxiety. The core of him is gone: everything from his throat to his groin is dark matter, a vortex of winds and roiling oceans, a seething void. He is substanceless, or overflowing. He cannot tell what he is.

Summary
It’s a beautiful, late April morning about a week after his little contest, and Victor has realized that he's made a mistake. Somehow, he’s misunderstood something fundamental about coming here -- and about Yuuri himself. He’s not sure yet just where he went wrong, or if it’s something he can fix, but he’s sure that something is off.

Summary
Once a well know ballet dancer in St. Petersburg, Victor Nikiforov finds himself exiled to Sakhalin Island as a political convict in 1881. As a man sentenced to katorga he will never return to European Russia or his life on the stage. Known as the "Edge of the World," his life on Sakhalin could not be further from the life he once knew. Strange circumstances lead his path to cross that of a young Japanese man, one of the very few still living on the island. Katsuki Yuuri leads a life of exile of a different kind, one that is largely self-imposed. Drawn to each other, despite their differences, something slowly begins to grow between them. When a narrowly avoided tragedy leaves them stranded together for a long, cold Sakhalin winter, they are challenged to face what their relationship really means, and what future it could possibly have.

Summary
Victor makes it his goal to get Katsuki Yuuri, figure skater, to the first page of Google results. There is no way he could let such a brilliant skater be overshadowed by Katsuki Yuuri, winner of some stuffy academic medal, who is probably 50 and balding.
Or: Yuuri has made a name for himself outside of figure skating, and certain athletes are slow on the uptake.

Summary
Victor had never worked this hard before, and especially he had never done so knowing that despite it all, it wasn’t possible to win. He tried to imagine going through this struggle as a child, and couldn’t quite convince himself that he could have kept skating through it before he’d ever tasted the peace of a clean program.
He tried to tell Yuuri all this, asked him how he had kept on for so long without feeling what it was like to win.
Yuuri laughed. “Maybe I couldn’t feel it,” he said. “But I saw it, when I watched you.”
Victor stood, dumbstruck. He knew then and there that his skating, his loneliness at the top, his whole life had been worthwhile, if it had kept this beautiful creature on the ice.

After the Grand Prix Final, Victor struggles back into skating and settles into his life with Yuuri.
