Summary
On the fourth day, it becomes clear that Joe is organizing something—more muscle than usual, a few more Black Mask affiliates than there should be. The few glimpses of Joe that Dick gets, he’s on his phone, speaking rapidly and gesturing emphatically.
On the fifth day, everything is quiet. No one comes, no one goes.
On the sixth day, Tim calls Dick: they’re not sure where Jason is. And yeah, maybe that’s just normal, and they’re not panicking yet. But they’re not sure where he is. And they’re about to start looking.
And on the seventh day, Bruce shows up at his door with Jason standing next to him, pale and hacking out a cough, putting too much weight on Bruce’s shoulder, and says: “I need to ask you a favor.”

Dick is supposed to be on a boring stakeout assignment. Jason complicates that.
OR
“I’LL TAKE CARE OF YOU.” “IT’S ROTTEN WORK.” “NOT TO ME. NOT IF IT’S YOU.”

Summary
By the time he’s stumbled to his feet - moving clumsily, slowly, and swaying a little, which is humiliating - Dick is there in front of him. Jason moves to press the gun to Dick’s forehead - in friendly greeting, or maybe a reminder - and Dick just frowns at him and gently pushes the metal barrel to the side. Then he takes both of Jason’s hands in his own, fingers wrapped around where Jason is white-knuckling the gun.
“Fuck off,” Jason says, and a little blood comes out when he says it. He swallows and tastes copper.
“Red Hood,” Dick says, and he’s giving Jason this thick look through his domino mask. There’s something unplaceable in his voice that makes Jason more queasy.

[Or: Jason gets beat up a little too badly on a mission and Dick, coincidentally, is there to see it. Cue the two of them playing hide-and-seek around a motel while Jason drips blood everywhere and Dick hammers on doors.]

“'Don’t. Let me make one thing—' Jason has to take in a sharp breath before he can finish the sentence, squinting his eyes open and hissing, '—Absolutely clear to you, Mr. Wayne. I am this close,' he lifts his fingers up, and makes sure that Bruce can see they’re pressed flat together, 'To shooting you. Shut the hell up.'"
AKA: After a mission goes wrong, Jason is left bloody, concussed, and pissed. Unfortunately for him, Bruce is just trying to keep Jason alive, which would probably be easier if Jason wasn't ready to strangle him.

"The family had reached a sort of uneasy truce with the wayward Red Hood; Batman gave Hood an extremely wide berth, they all stayed to their respective territories, and had mostly stopped attacking one another on patrols. Hood had even joined them on some of the rougher missions where the extra muscle was appreciated. But the young crime lord still refused to let them help him on his own missions, and still left shattered bones and maimed bodies in his wake. The Red Hood was a wild card at best. At worst, he was downright deadly."
In the middle of what was supposed to be a simple mission, Red Hood is badly injured, and Dick is suddenly reminded that under that red helmet is his younger brother, in need of a family. It just might take a while to convince Jason of that fact.
