Summary
Kris was the brave one. The fighter, the protector— it truly was no wonder this world made them a knight. It fit them perfectly.
Noelle wasn’t any of that. She certainly didn’t feel like it, and in this world (This fantasy? This dream?) where they had to fight to get by, she struggled on her own. That’s why she had Kris. Kris who promised to protect her.
But something gets to Kris, weakens them to the point where no matter how much Noelle tries to heal them with magic, they can’t fight.
Which means Noelle will have to. And after all these years of Kris protecting her, she’s determined to return the favor.

Summary
Abner Krill wasn't killed when he was crushed by Starro, though it was a close call. The impact caused his implant to register as deceased, but still he clung to life. When he woke up, he was in incredible pain of course, and he'd completely lost his memory, but everyone else remembers his triumphant cry of "I'm a superhero!" and they revere him as one.
He can accept sacrificing his memory for a chance to be beloved in this peaceful city, where he can finally, truly, be a superhero.
