“You’ll meet someone as…interesting, as your tattoo.” Angela’s mother had once told her. And she'd believed her then. She'd held out hope, for several years, that her tattoo would burn and glow like a red-hot coal when they were near, and she'd meet that interesting person the Universe deigned as her soulmate. But as she got older, and the prime years of finding ones soulmate passed, that hope faded.
Now, Angela Ziegler was 29 years old, soulmateless, and with nothing tying her down to Zurich anymore, decided to make the move to Nightsound, Washington, expecting little more than a change of scenery and maybe a little less lonely of an existence, being closer to her friends like Lena and Genji.
Those expectations would change suddenly when Angela, on Lena's insistence, stepped into Coalescence Tattoo, and almost immediately felt the coal-burning heat she'd been waiting all her life for. There was only one problem: No one else in the parlor was experiencing the same.

Moira held the beaker into the air, swirling it. “The Youth are terrifying. Glad I never was one.”
That made Angela pause and half turn to watch the geneticist’s back with a narrow-eyed, amused half-grin. “Pardon me, Dr. O’Deorain, but did you just make a joke?”
This time she angled her head so Angela could see her profile, and the smallest smile that rested at the corner of her mouth. “I am as human as you, Dr. Ziegler.”

“You wanna go to dinner?” Octavio sounded skeptical, kicked back on the couch in Taejoon’s bunk with a Switch and a terrifyingly colored energy drink.
“Ne.” Taejoon said.
“Like, sit down at a restaurant?”
“Yeah.”
“Like sit down and eat a whole meal? People actually do that?”
Taejoon leaned back in his chair. “You can’t be that oblivious.”
“Bro.”
Oh, right. He could. He definitely could.

This whole thing was stupid, and Bloodhound always learned, and he hoped he could say the same for himself. So, he re-routed his focus. “Alright. So, you wanna go on a dangerous expedition to visit a cave on Talos. Nothin’ else?”
“Basically.” They said.

He didn’t know many ways to show his thanks to her. He knew, really, that words were more valuable to her, so he gave her plenty of those whenever he came back from a run through the levels of hell. But there wasn’t much else to give a chthonic god older than his father’s father that she could possibly want or use…besides, perhaps, a vintage scarcely seen in realms such as theirs.

Summary
They finished off the coil of rope and set it aside. They did another, on the other arm. They could see the sweat on their skin, gliding over scars. In some places, where teeth or blade had created a divot, the sweat gathered in a pool. They turned their arm and watched it drip onto the ground. Ugh, ógeðslegur.
“Ew.”
Bloodhound paused, then turned. It was Elisabet, Hekla’s little girl. She was looking where their sweat had fallen. “What do you want, Elsie?”
She looked up at them. “That guy who never leaves you alone is here.”
Their eyebrows raised. “Walter?”
“Yeah. He talks funny.”
“Don’t say that. It’s rude.”

“So, you know. Rumor might be true.”
Elliott frowned, running his tongue along the inside of his teeth as he gathered the beer bottle and glass the pair had left behind. He’d kind of forgotten about that rumor, he just wanted to hear all the crazy shit Walter got up to with Maggie because she sure as hell didn’t talk about it. But if the rumor was true, then he wondered how deep of a doghouse he’d put Walter in. And, after thinking for longer than five seconds, also began to worry about Bloodhound. To say they were emotionally stunted was kind of an understatement.

“Och I am so sorry!” The woman’s eyebrows knit and she bit her lip, looking like she was about to cry. “Oh god, god, god – are, are you alright?”
Anita blinked slowly and remembered to breathe only barely. She remembered the next second that Loba had teased her about having a type and, looking at this woman and her freckles and big blue eyes and – and….and she had to admit, Loba was right.

Summary
Bloodhound had never seen true darkness outside of a cave. When they camped in the night, there were always stars; the points of deer horns, the belts of the gods, man’s chariot, the battlefield of Asar. Guardians of the land beyond the bifrost. They had been many places, many planets, but never one with a starless sky.
On a night otherwise serene, the Gods decided to change that.

Anita was no-nonsense. She was strict, disciplined, ruthless, sometimes inconsiderate, and frequently unpleasant to be around. But Mary Somers had never backed down from a challenge.
