More Chances Than Deserved
Slade hasn't quite left Gotham yet when the Society assigns him a contract on the Red Hood. For reasons he's not interested in asking about, they still want Black Mask in their ranks, and following the disastrous showing of their last hit squad, they've decided that it's a job best suited for actual professionals.
'Take the Red Hood off the board.' Simple enough. He's already worn himself out fighting the Bat, after all, and Slade's killed plenty of people just as dangerous as him. There's no reason one little fallen bird should give him any trouble.
Difficult Truths
Following the (second) explosive return of Jason's presence back into all of their lives, Dick has more questions than answers. Ambushing Slade in a distant city, alone, isn't his favorite idea, but with Jason vanished and Bruce unwilling to talk to him it might be the only option he has to find out what really happened, and decide what he's going to do next.
Signs of Sincerity
Jason's been sort-of avoiding Dick's request to talk to him. Not because he's upset with him, but just because he wasn't... ready. When he finally is, they agree on meeting in Bludhaven, at a restaurant Dick swears is one of his favorites. Except Dick doesn't show up alone, and Jason's not real fond of the surprise guest.
Poor Choices
The kid sends him keys, when he gets new apartments. The ones that Slade has actually been to have been terrible, and he doesn't expect this new one to be any different. When he gets there, however, it seems nice enough. Bigger than the last ones, nicer part of town, cleaner than most have started out as. Except for the clothing on the floor. Jacket, boots, shirt... Another shirt.
Hm. Now that's interesting.

Summary
It had been a long time since the bat signal called Jason. A long time since that particular beacon had anything to do with him. He stuck to his streets. Dealt with Black Mask and Penguin and Two-Face when it suited him.
Jason perched on rooftops and fire escapes and kept his eyes on the ground. He listened to police scanners and hacked into the Bats' comms.
He didn't look up.
He remembered it, though. The rush of adrenaline when he'd spot the bat illuminated in the sky. As Robin, it meant an adventure was to be had. It meant purpose. Magic.
