Summary
Hallucinations greet Kakavasha in the place of his vision, on the bridge between his mind and his barren optic nerves. Visual and strange, like daytime dreams with no tether to the appearance of reality. Kakavasha sees his own face in these visions, abstract and inhuman. He sees his big sister, standing far in the distance from him, crouched on the ground but smearing away in an array of brand new colors that never existed when he was sighted.
What if Aventurine really did sell his eyes?
A canon divergent story that focuses on Aventurine through the events leading up to Penacony, his mission, and the bittersweet aftermath... and falling in love with his colleague, Dr. Ratio.

Summary
“Story for another day, I think. Right now, I say we take in the view of the water.” Sethos sits down where he stands, his legs dangling off the edge of the cliff, squinting slightly as he gazes out at the water, appearing captivated by its glittering. His face scrunches up with the expression, his lips pulling into a frown, so Scara takes off his hat and places it on Sethos’s head instead. The man tenses, then relaxes, and he sends Scara a bewildered look, to which Scara just shrugs.
“You need it more than I do.” He answers coolly, unflinching under the scrutinizing stare Sethos pins him with. Whatever it was he was looking for, he seems to find it because he begins to smile, small but meaningful, and Scara can’t make heads or tails of it, of the way it makes him feel like he’s lost all the air in his lungs.
“Thank you,” Sethos says quietly, turning back to the water, and Scara nods numbly.
Sethos is a 'beta' who might smell a bit nicer than a beta ought to, something that definitely doesn't interest Scara at all, even when said beta turns out not to be a beta at all.

Summary
“You’re really committing to this role reversal,” Mydei says with a crooked smile. “I feel like I’ve been robbed of a trimester.”
Phainon swallows, coughs once, and manages a weak laugh that barely clears his throat.
“Sorry,” he mutters. “Didn’t realize you were attached to the experience.”
Phainon is nauseous, anxious, and absolutely not the one who’s pregnant.

Summary
Mydei crosses his arms. “How are you of all people supposed to help me get through Christmas with my family?” he asks dryly.
Phainon’s brows lift. “Huh.” When he doesn’t elaborate, Mydei gives him a look. “Well,” he says. “It’s just that I think I have a similar problem. With family. And Christmas.” He grimaces. “If I don’t come home with a boyfriend, I think my mother will kill me.”
Mydei’s eyes narrow. “Did you tell Cipher that? She probably thinks we can help each other.”
Phainon’s scoffs. “How? By pretending to date each other?”
Tired of their families pressuring them about significant others at Christmas, Mydei and Phainon agree to pretend to date each other and then break up after the holidays. Things don't go as planned.

Summary
There are plenty of things that Mydei wants. His daughter to always be happy, a roof over their head, for this line to go a little faster so they could get out of there. He’s never been interested in material things.
“I’m asking Santa to get him a boyfriend,” Elena announces proudly, making Mydei sigh. “Do you think he can do that, Phainon?”
“Oh!” Phainon looks to Mydei with an eyebrow raised. “Um, maybe? Santa works in very mysterious ways.”
or, all Mydei's daughter wants is another father for Christmas. Perhaps this year could be the one.
