Sophia stepped closer, Megan could feel her breath on her shoulder. “You can talk to me, you know that right?”
“I know,” she said as quietly as possible. Then, before she completely lost it: “That’s kind of the problem.”
Sophia’s brow furrowed. “What do you mean?”
“I- I think…” Megan trailed off, Sophia put a reassuring hand on her shoulder. Not to rush Megan, but to provide comfort.
Megan inhaled sharply, moving her gaze to the floor. “I think I like you,” she said, voice barely above a whisper. “Not just as a friend. Not as a teammate. Not even just as a leader. It’s been messing with my head for weeks. I didn’t want to say anything, but it’s getting too hard to hide.”
