Giyuu feels his heart start to pick up. He really doesn’t want to start any arguments. Anxiety claws at his throat, pushing him to speak up. “No. It was only minor injuries.”
“Goodness, Tomioka,” Uzui sighs, sending him a pitying look, “‘minor injuries’ kept you in the Butterfly Estate for multiple days? Are you feeling alright?”
No, that’s not what he meant! They’re just jumping to conclusions without listening to him. Like they always fucking do. Anxiety gives way to anger and frustration that roots in his chest. They feel horrifyingly similar; his breathing becomes increasingly laboured, he feels like there’s a lump in his throat that prevents him from speaking properly, and no matter what he does, the feeling won’t leave.

Summary
Sanemi’s boring yet peaceful life as an older brother and exhausted teacher had a new agonizingly distracting bump in the road after his new coworker appeared in his life. Giyuu was snarky, boring, and had a horrible taste in designs. He also was frighteningly familiar. Neither Sanemi nor Giyuu recognize why they both felt so enthralled with the other—ignoring it to the best of their abilities until they are force fed memories of their past life together as husbands. Struggling with identifying what is real and what is not, their worlds collide after an unwanted, yet life-altering school event.

Sanemi and Giyuu can’t remember their husband from a life they didn’t know they lived, and their less-than-amicable start puts a strain on their relationship. While their life isn’t ticking by them and their moments, the remnants of what once was lingers deep inside them.
