It might work.
Bruce looks at the mother box—watches it, though it isn't doing anything except sitting there in front of him, gleaming, the deceptively simple shape of a cube. It's only the texture, the ridges and edges and shifting interlocking patterns that cross the surface, that hint at what it truly is. What it's capable of.
(Or: Mid-JL, Bruce has convinced everyone to try raising Superman from the dead; but what if he could make sure it had never been necessary in the first place? Surely that's the superior option, and there's nothing to stop him from trying. Except maybe Clark.)

Clark looks shocked; the expression is undiluted by anger or dismay, though perhaps he simply hasn't had time to grasp what just happened. His eyes are wide, round, impossibly blue. Color is rising into his cheeks. His mouth is half-open, slack, with the slightest damp shine where—
"That was," Bruce makes himself say, and then stops. Christ, what word can he use? What adjective is there that acknowledges his trespass fully? "Inappropriate." Inadequate, but it's the best he can do, and Clark needs to hear something, needs to know Bruce recognizes his own mistake for what it is. "I apologize. I—"

She looks past him at the leviathan. Barry's calling it that because it sounds cooler and more dignified than dragon-turtle-whale from hell, but a dragon-turtle-whale from hell is what it looks like, sounds like, and smells like. Just real big-bad not-good all over, and that's not even counting the part where it zaps when it's pissed.
"I can help you," Mera says evenly, apparently unimpressed. "I will speak to you after."

Contrary to popular belief, the forest is not quiet this late, either. Some are hunting; some are praying to what powers animals might look to that they are not to be hunted. Sometimes, she could swear she heard the saplings grow, the peaty soil breath.
The difference that jars Vex’ahlia’s teeth is not the level of sound, but how it carries. Anything you hear in the bruised midnight shadow of trees was near or an echo - nothing in between. Here in the castle, stone carries noise like a missive.
All this to say that though she, like Keyleth, did not hear her brother return -
- she did hear Percy.

Set during C1 episode 64 - Vex has trouble sleeping due to Saundor's taunts. Just so happens Percy is awake, and nothing is a better distraction than dancing around your feelings.

"Vesper stares up at him. Vex jokes that she inherited her father’s stern countenance, and he has to admit, there is some truth to the idea. She definitely inherited the De Rolo eyebrows, which doesn’t help. She babbles for a moment, expression intent.
"Percival nods with equal severity. 'I see,' he says, utterly solemn. 'I shall make a note.'"
The De Rolos settle in after a long night, and have some conversations about the future.
