Summary
The Squawk had become their cover, their communication hub, their war room. Robin did the actual broadcasts mostly playing music and reading pre-written community updates approved by the military presence in town, but the real purpose was the coded messages. Steve had helped her set up the whole system, spending hours figuring out how to get all the sound effects she wanted, taping things to walls and attempting to MacGyver random things around the station.
That was just who Steve was, but looking around the room now, Robin wondered more and more if anyone else actually saw that.

“Dick Grayson.” The voice was barely more than a whisper, but it kept catching him off guard. He would be almost asleep, so close to letting himself relax just enough to collapse into any semblance of rest, and then he would hear it. After checking for any sort of device that could be stowed away in his apartment and half-way destroying each room looking for someone hiding, he gave up on trying to find the source.
After three days, he had turned off his phone. He thought that it would be better to just turn it off than smash it when the next person tried to call him.

Richie bolted down the corridor to get to the music room. Ruth followed him down, repeatedly insisting that there must be some kind of mistake. Overtaking him, Ruth slammed into the music room door, stumbling forward and tripping over herself when it opened quicker than she expected. She didn't bother pulling herself back up and just laid there instead. Miss Mulberry looked unfazed. She was sitting on her desk with a coffee in hand. Richie stepped over Ruth and Miss Mulberry shushed him before he even spoke.
“No, there are no mistakes on the cast list.” She droned, taking a sip of her coffee. She looked utterly fed up. “I am just as annoyed as you are.”
“Why.” Was all Richie could muster. Ruth groaned from the floor.
“As a detention alternative, apparently. Principal Blim thinks making our lives hell will cure Max of his anger issues.”
“I don't think you're allowed to say that, Miss Mulberry.” Ruth mumbled, her voice muffled by the floor her head was still pressed against.
“Ruth, you know I'm not paid nearly enough to care.”
“...okay.”

Richie is shaking. “I don’t get flashbacks. I’m not a veteran. My coach, Mr Houston, he gets flashbacks. It’s because he did two tours in Iraq, which, you know. I imagine that’s a lot worse than what happened to me. I don’t think I really meet the criteria for flashbacks.”
“It frightened you.” Duke goes on, ignoring Richie’s tangent. Richie pouts. “You were, understandably, on edge.” He continued, prompting another head shake from Richie.
“I wasn’t.” He whispers.
Duke’s face softens. “Richie. You are allowed to be afraid. And you were on your last tether that day. You’ve been dealing with this trauma alone for weeks. It was weighing on you then and it's weighing on you now.”
Richie doesn’t deny it this time.
OR:
Richie has PTSD after what happened to him at the Old Waylon Place. He gets therapy about it.
