    Pete hooks a hand around the back of Kao’s neck and draws him close until their noses touch. “You can tell, you just don’t want to.”

    This time, Kao does punch him in the gut, but not enough to hurt and only to make Pete laugh and back off the interrogation, which he does. “You gonna get off on being a jerk,” Kao asks, raising his eyebrows, “or do you actually have something you want to do with me?”
