It felt like nobody had been particularly surprised when Ryuki had slipped into unconsciousness that day at the stadium, but Date couldn't accept things ending like that. And even after a full week had passed with no change, he'd refused to let Ryuki just quietly slip away. With Tama, he was certain the two of them would be able to reach him, but they just had to hope Ryuki would want to be found.

Summary
Date first saw Ryuki again on the night he returned, walking past the man without a second glance. He was neck-deep in alcohol anyways, so it wasn’t like he could even notice him- he was here to talk to Gen, not Ryuki. But he saw him again. And again. And again and again, and it was impossible to hold a grudge when he knew he was half the reason Ryuki was in this state at all.
It truly was unfair that emotion could so easily triumph over reason sometimes.
