“Chip, please come down!” Damian pleaded, staring up at her. Chip responded by pushing a bag of chips off the edge of the refrigerator and onto Damian’s head. They fell to the floor with a loud crunch.

Tim's parents faked their deaths and fled the country years ago, but neglected to take him with them. He spent some time on the streets, and now at 16, he makes a living as a fortune teller, stalking and hustling the shit out of Gotham's elite by telling them eerily accurate fortunes based on the information he gathers about them.
His life is peculiar but he wouldn't change a thing. When he gets booked for the big Wayne Halloween party, however, he finds himself getting all tangled up with the Waynes, and the more fortunes he tells, the tighter the snare becomes.or: Tim just wanted to scam Gotham's elite, not end up on the Batfamily's watchlist. But it seems they just won't leave him alone..

Dick sounded amused. “You didn’t tell me you were coming.”
“You should have known.”
“Oh, I’m sorry. My latent psychic abilities haven’t kicked in yet,” Dick said. Then, as if the possibility was just occurring to him: “You told someone you were coming, right?”
Tim made a noise, vague enough for Dick to interpret however he wanted.
“Hey,” the next tug on the blanket was sharper, as was Dick’s voice. When he got the blanket down enough to see Tim’s face, he raised an eyebrow, repeating, “You told someone you were coming, right?”
Or: Tim and Bruce have a fight. Tim does the only logical thing and goes to Dick about it.

“Will you marry me?” Tim breathed. It was not according to plan but for once he couldn’t find it in him to care; it felt right.

Tim glances over to see one woman kneeled over another, they're lit by a candle and one of the women is holding a needle and the other is holding an ice cube to her ear. It seems pretty clear they're about to try to pierce her ear, even if Tim has no context for the scene. He's heard of people doing it in the bathroom at school, but it always seems like such a terrible idea.
Beside him, Ives says "hey, lets do that."
"We should, not do that actually. Do you just happen to have earrings on hand?"
"It'll be fun Tim. I want to try something new, but Bomp N' Stomp doesn't pay me nearly enough to be going to a professional-"
"You mean if you want to keep spending all your cash on your WOW membership and new Wizards and Warlocks expansions."
"Yes, that. Anyways, you're no better. Don't you think I'd look good with an earring?"

There's no way he could pass for Dick’s actual brother and he’s got the face of a shell-shocked cartoon mouse — but not the cutesy mice, the ones in the old 80's movies that gave Dick nightmares as a child. That plus the fact the Drake kid’s got a thick New Jersey accent he can’t shake and Dick doesn’t look grown-up enough to be toting around a preteen is sure to get people asking questions. Or worse. So Dick hauls Tim in by the strap on his backpack, steps onto the shoulder, sticks his thumb skyward toward the cloudless cornflower blue of middle America in summer, and prays that whoever pulls over lies somewhere boring on the sliding scale between serial killer and snitch.
Dick Grayson turns 20 on March 20th, Jason Todd dies on April 27th, and by May 23rd, Bruce Wayne's ward-not-son is rattling around in the bed of a 1979 Ford F-150 heading anywhere but Gotham, New Jersey. Wayne money and Bat technology can't find him, but he's got a bug-eyed shadow and a raw Robin-shaped wound to haul across the continental United States.
