Summary
This is a rewrite of Act 1 Scene 3 of Romeo and Juliet that i submitted for a school project a couple years ago (hence why i didnt include as much yaoi as i wouldve liked)
It is technically a canon divergence but after this scene nothing is different about the plot and everything happens as normal
I tried to keep the dialogue as canon accurate as possible, but for the story to make sense I has to switch who said some lines and make up/delete some lines.
Summary: Benvolio’s perspective of act 1 scene 3 of romeo and juliet, and how he reacts to Mercutio’s death (spoiler: not well)

the soft buzz from the fridge is the only sound filling the apartment. wally, hunched over the kitchen table, zips his duffel slowly, like he’s waiting for dick to say something. he doesn’t.
wally inhales sharply through his nose. “right,” he mutters. “okay.”
he slings the bag over his shoulder and heads for the door. rain slowly starting outside, a low hiss behind the windows.
“leave your key,” dick says, without turning around.
wally freezes. for a second, he hesitates. he looks like he might say something — like he might ask if dick really means it.
instead, his arm reaches into the pocket of his jacket, pulling his key out and tossing it onto the counter.
his hand rests on the doorknob a moment longer than it should. still waiting.
