Chrissy Cunningham buys weed from Eddie Munson in September, on the Friday before Homecoming starts, like so many of their classmates do. The weeklong pep rallies and sports nonsense are punctuated by a Homecoming Dance– all things Eddie avoids like the plague, except for the afterparties, which are another big spike in sales for him.
It gives him whiplash, when he’s approached by her to meet in the woods after school, but he grins his way through it, all the way to the solitary picnic table.

But Eddie is the exact opposite of who she was expecting to meet, and the assignment from hell starts to turn into a whirlwind romance.
This brain rot gremlin is completely the fault of Sloelimbs, who I happened to mention my love of the film Twister to. That was four days ago and well, here we are...

"You’re gonna have to figure out how to make it possible for her to win, since it’s rigged for everyone to lose.” Byers mock salutes, and then winks at Eddie.
“It’s not rigged.” The lie is not even worth it, really, but it is more the principle of the thing that makes him want to say it.
“Yeah, yeah, sure, you gotta sell your goods, whatever, it’s not rigged,” Byers says, the rest of the kids slowly edging away from the booth, leaving him behind, “I’m just saying, if Chrissy comes back, you’re gonna want her to be able to win, right?” Byers gestures like he wants Eddie to answer.
Eddie sighs, and decides that admitting it to Byers is as low risk as it gets. “Right.“
“So, you have to make it winnable.”
“Thank you, William,” Eddie says, crossing his arms over his chest. “It’s truly been a pleasure. Now, get out of my sight.”
