Summary
After not hearing from John for months after his daughter was born, Sherlock starts receiving hand-written letters from him telling Sherlock about his day, asking him how he's been doing, asking him for help...it's the last bit that gets them both in to a bit of a bind.
"John likes to start his letters with “Dear Friend”, but Sherlock can’t bring himself to use the term in return. It feels like John has been his only true friend throughout his entire life, and John knows that already.
And if John will not allow him to sign his letters, he decides that he will end them all the same from here on out.
When you’re ready to stop being an idiot…
When you’re ready to stop fighting this stupid battle of who could care less…
When you’re ready to let me help you…
When you’re ready to be done sneaking around…
When you’re ready to speak to me properly again…
When you’re ready to come home…He says all of these and more with three simple words: “When you’re ready…” that, in the end, roughly translate to “I’m here. I’m waiting. Come home.”"

Summary
John is hoping to revisit a conversation he and Sherlock had at Angelo’s in the early days of their friendship, to confirm his suspicions that Sherlock feels for him the way he feels for Sherlock. However, in his obliviousness, Sherlock disappoints him and and causes John to look elsewhere for romance. But as soon as there is another man in the picture, Sherlock cannot handle his emotions.

Summary
Some people have a black mark on them which means they have a soulmate out there somewhere. That mark is where you first touch your soulmate. When Sherlock first meets John, he notes that John has black finger tips on his right hand. Sherlock knows that he has no black marks having searched when he was younger. He invites John to share a flat with him even though he knows one day John will find his soulmate and leave Sherlock. But then Moriarty happens and Sherlock is forced to leave by way of faking his own death. He will never forget the way John yelled while he lie there in a pool of fake blood.
