Världen blev till kristall igen när hon tog in den medvetslösa kvinnans stora, spetsiga, fluffiga öron. De satt på sidan av huvudet, som Adoras egna, men gav ändå ett omisskännligt kattlikt intryck. Det var som att ett filter fallit från hennes ögon, när hennes hjärna begrep att den korta, våtslickade ljusbruna pälsen och svansen mörk som hennes hår, var verkliga och inte synvillor att sortera bort. Ljusa ränder på tvärs över armarna och ryggen. Beniga händer och fötter, med löfte om en oemotståndlig greppkraft. Längst ut på fingrarna och tårna syntes svarta, tjocka, vassa flisor som hon visste var klor, inte naglar. En omänskligt vass hörntand glipade fram över underläppen.

The friends of Mara at Arxia Station gamble everything on untested and dangerous technology for a straw's chance in hell, i.e. they have to bring Adora with them into Despondos and hide her somewhere safe so the First One's wont just replace Mara with the next one, use her to pull Etheria back out of Despondos (which for the purposes of this fic they could) and start over.
